Using self-service printers

Using the printers at USW can be daunting at first, but it's actually really easy!

The first step is sending your file to print, you can do this in one of two ways, sending to print from a university computer, or sending to print from your own device. 

If you send a file to print from a university computer, all you need to do is click File then Print


For a short cut press Ctrl+P on PC or Command+P on Mac


Make sure the destination is along the lines of Student_Print or Staff_Print


Check the layout is correct then click Print


Using the Printers


Place your university ID card down on the card reader to log in OR type in your log in details on screen


Click Print


Select your file


Print+Delete


Log out

You can see if your file is going to print in colour or black and white by the circular icon displayed.


Either 2 black and white circles or 3 colour circles.


To change colour settings, select the file you want to change and click Options.


Click Colour mode and choose the option you want.


Set Options.


Your file is now ready to print.

To add or remove staples from your file, select the file then select Options.


Click Stapling.


Select your preferred option.


Set Options.


Your file is now ready to print.

To make a file single or double sided, select the file then select Options.


Click Duplex.


Simplex is single sided.


Duplex Long Edge is double sided and flipped along the long edge of the page. This means Portrait paper will appear like a book, and Landscape will appear like a calendar.


Duplex short edge is double sided and flipped along the short edge of the page. This means Landscape paper will appear like a book, and Portrait will appear like a calendar.


Select your preferred option.


Set Options.


Your file is now ready to print.
